10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

The world of solar is an ever-changing one and it can be difficult to keep up with all the cutting edge innovations and technical trends within the industry. If you’re in need of insights or would simply like to hear about what the next generation of solar will look like, come join us at 10.15 am EST on November 17, as pv magazine USA hosts an open-forum discussion with Ben Damiani of Solar Inventions. Winners of the first American Made Solar Prize in 2019, Ben and his team work every day on commercializing new solar technologies and manufacturing processes. Along with pv magazine moderator Tim Sylvia, Ben will touch on innovations in cell technology, pv recycling, and the future of solar-integrated transportation.

Building PV for Resiliency

Session 1 I In the face of extreme weather: Hail, wind, and fires

We investigate cases and present field data from weather-related damages, and dive into recent issues from the field. Investigation into changing technologies and impact resistance against hail damage – there is a balance between technology and reliability to reduce premature degradation and field failures.

Session 2 I Building resiliency through modern O&M

Operations and maintenance is now a much more critical piece of the solar landscape and the key to long-term resilience and competitive LCOE. As grid-scale solar becomes a mature, sophisticated business — so is the modernization of the O&M segment. The O&M role in the U.S. is being increasingly contracted out to a third party – a trend typical of a maturing power industry. Insights and discussions into alliances supporting the long-term ownership challenges and opportunities ahead for a 30-year-plus asset.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Can’t get enough of our speakers? Once off stage, you can meet them in our Meet the Speakers Zoom room. This is your chance to come together with our speakers after each Roundtable Session and discuss the content more in depth.

1:00 PM - 1:45 PM

Fort Bragg and Duke Energy have teamed up to provide improved energy and operational performance for multiple buildings on base, as well as reduce the impact of operational failure from outages. As part of the new partnership, Duke Energy is installing a 1.1MW floating PV on a lake, with a nearby 2MW battery energy storage system, all feeding back onto the base. Join us at 1 pm EST on November 17 to meet the team behind this project and gain insights into the necessity and development of the floating PV installation in the Southeast United States.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Use the break to get connected and to discuss topics more in depth. A warm welcome to our Virtual Roundtable networking experience:

  • Main Stage Live Chat
  • Meet the speakers
  • Networking Area
  • 1-on-1 video calls or chat
  • Group discussions
  • Scavenger Hunt

Going big: Moving into a larger market future

Session 3 I What storage can learn from solar

Despite the significant makeup of the United States’ battery storage market, behind-the-meter DERs are seemingly being overlooked by utilities and regulators in their capacity to provide grid services. We take a look at 2020, but also what where the market is anticipated to go in its move toward maturity

  • California lessons for storage project developers
  • Mitigating risk on large storage projects with data and the drive towards storage standards
  • The necessity of manufacturing audits for large storage project developers

Session 4 I Preparing for the bigger module future

Solar modules and wafers are trending large – in what seems to be an arms race for manufacturing the large panels. But the impacts of bigger modules fall across the industry – from solar module and inverter manufacturers to BOS and construction. Why are we moving toward larger modules & wafers and what are the advantages and challenges that lay ahead? Experts discuss.
